Ability to generated (PDF) Spec Sheets and/or branded quotes from Card or eQuotes for customers By mahandy77,  2 days ago Wed Nov 18 14:36:48 GMT 2009

I spend a lot of time re-generating spec sheets and communicating to the customer exactly what they'll be getting for what price.

It would be nice to see a feature that would generate a PDF (free of prices as not to give away reseller discount) that could be passed onto the customer. 

Along those lines, it would be cool if the site would allow generation of PDF based quotes that gave the reseller a chance to input their own prices and perhaps upload a custom logo to "brand" the quote sheet...of course it would still say "DELL" in big letters on it somewhere.

I shop online for my state agency every day, and visit dozens of online web checkouts each month.  It still amazes me that Dell, being such a huge computer company, still has the worst online shopping site of any I come across.  The pages are impossibly slow to load, if at all, checkout is tedious and more complicated than it should be, and there are error masseages and page loading failures way too often.  Please get with the times!

Every time I place an order, another customers address is in the default field for the ship-to address.  Please add a feature to save my own default shipping address with my profile, or user-id.  This affects 110 divisions at L3.  You can imagine the time that can be saved with thousands of orders being placed.

A Dozen Mission-critical Improvements By El_Desperado,  Jun 11, 2009 Thu Jun 11 19:14:47 GMT 2009

So many requests, so little time. I use Premier extensively all day long, every day. It is essential to my business as a Dell VAR. The following improvements would be great: 

 

1.       Accurate Premier catalog management. I have lost many customers due to order errors where an item shows up in my Premier catalog, an order is placed, and then it mysteriously disappears or is lost in processing due to changes in the item availability that were not accurately reflected in the Premier catalog. This is a serious issue and I would appreciate it being a high priority.

2.       Ability to set up Order Status as my log-in landing page. That is always my first stop.

3.       Links to Order Status from the top or second level top nav that is persistent on every page.

4.       Accurate and real-time status reporting for Order Processing, In Production and ESPECIALLY Shipping.

5.       No more lag in reporting shipping information. FedEx data often lags by 24 hours or more and that’s a colossal NUISANCE.

6.       Improved integrated with the Partner Portal and the ability to move between the Partner Portal Online Store and Premier with single click simplicity. Eliminate redundant logins and the need to scroll multiple pages between the two stores.

7.       Fix the asset management system!!! Enable us to get complete downloads of all Dell products that have service tags including systems AND peripherals. Make it easy to download asset reports and upload asset transfers. The current system requires special requests, incompatible Excel formats that must be extensively edited prior to uploading and incomplete asset reports. It’s a colossal NUISANCE. Please help.

8.       Enable real-time messaging to the sales team for on-the-spot communication, Q&A, price quotes, customer care and more. WebEx would be fantastic. Get with the 21st Century ladies & gentlemen.

9.       Integrate priority direct connection to Customer Service and Tech Support for Premier users. Simplify the CS management system. Take a look at how Amazon does it for their Gold & Platinum merchants. Amazon is the VERY BEST I have ever seen anywhere.  The Premier site has been buggy over the last few months and a direct link to Tech Support would be a real benefit. Amazon uses eStara to have their support people call you right back which is something Dell should definitely implement for Premier support across the board.

10.   Extend the login time out to hours, not minutes. Another colossal NUISANCE when it times out in the middle of an active session.

11.   Integrate tax exemptions for multiple jurisdictions so that the correct tax or exemption shows during the checkout process. Too many errors are occurring with the back-end system now in place.

12.   Enable sales tax form and exemption management online via Premier. IBM and Lenovo both have much better systems for this. Dell’s is positively archaic and very error prone. It delays order processing to the extent that it has lost me business or jeopardized my customer relations with my clients. Took me over a year to get it well-oiled and we still have issues due to the most recent system changes that actually made things much worse, not better.

Quote-to-Order are custom quotes configured by the Dell Inside Sales team with a 'fixed' quantity..  Often we would like to procure a different quantity than what is stated on the quote.  This requires the generation of another quote versus places an immediate order.  It can save time and money for both the customer and Dell as it requires less quotes and is available for other procurement of different quantity.

Please find a way to only send the order acknowledgements without having to send the "items have shipped" notifications.  I do not need to know when the items ship, but I do need to receive the order acknowledgements.  When I check the box for the order acknowledgeents I automatically get the shipping notifications, which I do not need or want.

It would be nice to have the PURCHASE link disabled or removed after an equote has been ordered. Our company creates a lot of e-quotes and it's a pain to run through the list to find the one that needs to be submitted. We process multiple e-quotes for the same customers.


ADMIN NOTE:  Many of our customers do want the ability to purchase a given E-Quote more than once.  That said, a popular request is to have some kind of notation as to whether an order has been placed on a given equote, possibly within the E-Quote list.  This idea has been submitted to our Development team, and hopefully, will be included in future enhancements.

Please go back to where the ordering screens would save the buyer's name, email address, and phone number as the ordering screens did a couple of months ago.  It takes time to keep correcting this data.

ADMIN NOTE:  While more of a techincal issue rather than a feature or functionality request, this has been resolved.  Information updated and saved in during checkout is now saving as it should.

When I need to add new Ship-to adress, I would like to be able to insert it at the same time in the Bill-to location as well.

That would save me time  :)


ADMIN NOTE: Update: Dell.com will be implementing enhancements to consumer checkout, including the ability to select a checkbox to duplicate the ship-to and bill-to addresses.  These enhancements to Consumer checkout are scheduled for this fall.  Premier enhancements will follow at a later time, and will be targeted primarily at our transactional Premier users, such as Employee Purchase, as most of our corporate/government customers require centralized billing addresses that are different than their shipping addresses.

Checkout After Viewing My eQuotes By Younga,  Jun 9, 2009 Wed Jun 10 06:34:03 GMT 2009

Sorry if this has been answered or I totally missed it
.
When I'm at my university's Dell site, I'm able to view my eQuotes.  Now I want to order from my eQuotes.  I searched the site but I don't see a Checkout or Add to Cart button.  Is there one?  

I also tried the dell.com/quote link where I'm asked to enter my eQuote number and customer number.  I check my old Dell purchases and select our office's customer number.  But it doesn't work.  I try the other 2 numbrs, same result.  Why can't this page ask for eQuote number and email address like the other Higher Ed site?

Security in Premier can be setup to allow different users to have different rights and capabilities.  If you have a "Shopper" role, you will not see a "Checkout" link when retrieving e-quotes.  Contact your Sales Representative if you need review your rights and security, such as the ability to place orders within your organization's Premier site.

Order By Quote, also called Quote To Order, is for Dell quotes, sent to you by your Sales Representative, not to be conused with E-Quotes.  For common product and quote questions, check with your Account Team.  For techincal issues within Premier, please contact our Premier Helpdesk (Premier@Dell.com, or 800-274-3355, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm Central Time) to allow them to troubleshoot.

I would like to see a way to add items to an order when you use the purchase option from the E-Quote page. I am often asked to add accessories or third party software and I am forced to rebuild the machine or create a new order.

I'd like to see the ability during checkout to associate an internal PO number with an order so that it prints on the shipping labels and invoice.  Currently, after I place each order, I have to email our PO number to our rep who then has to go in and manually input it on the order.

ADMIN NOTE: Purchase Order as a field is available in Premier checkout, as a required for Purchase Order, Floorplanning, and Leasing, and as an optional field for most other payment options.  If you are using a payment method that does not include an optional Purchase Order field, please contact your Dell Sales Representative to request a Custom Field, which can capture your Purchase Order number.  If you are referring to Quote To Order, which is separate from Premier, Purchase Order is not an available with checkout payment options other than Purchase Order and Leasing.

It would be a fantastic time saver if we had a drop down list of our end users.   This way when we select "end user is different that above" when doing an E-quote we could select from a list of end users we have already quoted/sold equipment to.  Our company has about 20 primary clients that we are always seling equipment to and it becomes a real pain to have to input this everytime.
