Slow slow slow and where are all the products?? By golfislife13,  Oct 19, 2009 Mon Oct 19 20:47:15 GMT 2009

I haven't been able to log in all day.  This site has been slow for months now.  When I do get in, I can't find all products Dell sells.  I can configure a blade server, but there is no blade chassis to be found.  How can I come up with a ballpark estimate for management if I can't even find the products?  Not all laptop models can be found either.  We don't need the top of the line Latitudes, some times we just want Studios or Vostros, but we can't see them on our Premier page.  Why can't we see all products?

Just getting the basics working whould be a great enhancement By Peanut,  Aug 31, 2009 Mon Aug 31 14:55:58 GMT 2009

1)Slow   Slow    Slow

2) If my sesssion times out all my work is lost. I get to the end of a quote and walk away for a minuite and when i come back an error message says we're sorry etc. and i have to logback in and start all over.   very irritating.

3)Product organization:  Servers for instance. If i select servers i get all servers, rack mount and  tower, and not in any particular order.  Sorting by price didn't seem to work. If i choose just tower servers, i don't get the full array of tower servers, so if i want one that isn't listed there i have to wade through both tower and rack mount servers.

4) How about putting the same help info about components you have on the regular site on the primier site?  when i'm doing a server quote and i run into something i'm not sure of--which array adapter, drive config,  or an explanation of  the various warranties etc--to use i have to go somewhere else to get it. Often when i get back to the quote---you guessed it---it timed out and i have to start over......

Thanks!

Simple system configuration/find/filter By Vaulcul,  3 days ago Wed Nov 18 00:01:49 GMT 2009

I'd like to have the ability to optionally choose the type of hardware (ie. processors, Hard drive size, etc.) I want (or my client wants) and then be given a categorized list of computers that meet those specs.  I'd also like to be able to save, duplicate, and modify those searches, so that they're easy to find later on.

My experience today By heathert,  Oct 22, 2009 Thu Oct 22 14:28:55 GMT 2009

Why do FastTrack E6400  and E6500 Latitudes, even those with Professional-level Windows 7 or Vista, only offer Office Home & Student, not Pro or Small Business?

I ended up doing a custom configuration but sure could have saved some time if Office Pro or Office Small Business had been offered.

Purchasing Website??? By kimscj,  Nov 4, 2009 Wed Nov 04 18:51:54 GMT 2009

This has always been the worst purchasing website I have ever used.  Slow, difficult to navigate, the list is endless, I don't even know where to start.  I've been using this site for about 2 years now and everytime I log in, it's worse.  Maybe you should hire someone who knows how to create a purchasing site instead of someone who makes it look 'pretty'.  Even getting here to add my comments was difficult.  The entire set up of the 'Idea' forum is wrong to add insult to injury.

Better Product Pictures By SteelersFan,  Jul 23, 2009 Thu Jul 23 18:52:25 GMT 2009

I would like to see better product pictures similar to how newegg is.  It would be nice to see more detailed pictures and pictures from different angles.  I often find myself going to newegg.com or the manufacturer website to find better pictures.  It seems like some things have good pictures and others do not.  It would save my time and be more efficient if Dell had a better selection of pictures.

disclosure of instock status By TPGIT,  Jul 23, 2009 Thu Jul 23 16:41:59 GMT 2009

This is one of my pet peeves with the Dell site.... I can't tell the stock status, or potential shipping date of an item until AFTER I've ordered it. If I knew it was weeks out from shipping, I might expedite the shipping a bit. or if I knew it was immediately available, I might save a few dimes and ship ground. Even after I've placed the order, I have to dig around the product description to find a potential ship date....

The instock status should be listed on each product's description. Many times I'll do a search and it would help me better decide, if I knew which item I was able to recieve faster...  and I need this information BEFORE I place anything in my cart.

In fact, as a part of me giving good customer service to MY customer, I like to be able to tell them when they can expect to recieve their product... I can't do that if my vendor doesn't make that information easy to find.  help me out here...

Difficult to spec out Standard Configuration machines By BW,  Aug 5, 2009 Wed Aug 05 13:36:02 GMT 2009

Why is it so difficult to get standard personal computers spec'd out? When I spec one out and get the quote from the Dell rep, get the PO and send it in, only THEN do I get to see that the expected ship date is 3 weeks from today's date.  I can goto CDW and click "Add to Cart" on a $600 HP with all the trimmings, put in a credit card number, and voila! the computer arrives two days later.  And don't tell me I need to contact the sales rep to have him activate anything on the Standard Configuration page, did that in the past and now there are absolutely ZERO pc's listed on my Standard Configurations page.

I want to see ALL the Dell products! By ATC_Brad,  Sep 2, 2009 Wed Sep 02 14:27:43 GMT 2009

I have asked for years to have access to your line of rack mount enclosures.  You let me have it for a short time then you took it away.  Why?  I want to be able to see, configure and order anything you sell from my premiere page.  I don't see why this would be such a difficult concept for you.

successful connections By mjm,  Apr 24, 2009 Fri Apr 24 13:29:57 GMT 2009

Is it possible during regular business hours (EST) to successfully access the Dell Premier Site and all its contents -- especially invoice and product pages?  Currently, whether Explorer or Firefox are used, and no matter the time of day (again business hours, not 2:00 am.) one is lucky if a connection is established and maintained 25% of the times attempted.  Ironic that Dell builds and sells servers and yet its own site is so quirky and unreliable.  Invoices are particularly difficult to access.  Also, must so many hoops be required to login to the Premier Site, and must the time-out be so rapid?   It's a pain getting into and staying in the Dell catalog.  CDWG's website would be a good example of where the Dell website needs to go.  It rarely crashes, has peppy response time, and no time-out once logged in for the day.

Product no longer available!!!! By WGBrock8well,  Jun 13, 2009 Sat Jun 13 16:12:50 GMT 2009

The first topic that leads me here today is that I created a quote 2 days ago and today it is no longer available, even though I told my client that it says it is good for 30 days!  Not good.  Now I try to recreate the quote and find that some items are now no longer available to our selections, OK, but if I choose the system without that product and have to choose something less, why does the price go $70.00 more?  If Dell tells me the quote expires in 30 days, it better honor the quote.

I cannot tell you how frustrated I am to not be able to quote product that SHOULD be available, but isn't.

How long did it take you guys to make the 1909W display available after removing the 1908FPW.  Holy cow!  Now that it available it will delay our orders!  So I started selling the 2208FPW and it is no longer there.

Let me say though, at first this tool was a godsend for me and my account rep.  I loved it!!!! It still needed some work, but I was able to do everything I needed.  As products have changed, I assume, the order site has just been frustrating.  I like all of the available tool for retrieving invoices and orders.

I also found out that being a good reseller, i know I dont do the business that many other do, but I have been selling a good portion of dell machines for quite some time and found out the other day that someone new applied for Dell premier status and got the same pricing as someone who has been with you for quite some time and sells a lot of machines.  hmmmm.  I really think you should have some kind of tier level, or maybe I am just too small of a fish, don't really know.

ADMIN NOTE:  We appreciate any and all feedback, and the opportunity to address issues that arise with your experience on Premier and other Dell websites.  However, we would ask that submissions for this particular forum be focused on ideas for feature and functionality requests within Premier.

It is important to remember that any quote from Dell is a guarantee of price on the selected items through the expiration, but not necessarily availability.  For Dell's Client and Enterprise products, such as OptiPlex, Latitude, and PowerEdge, lifecycles are managed carefully, including End-Of-Life for options.  Lightswitch transitions are more common on consumer brands, such as Inspiron, XPS, and Studio.  As always, consult with your Dell Sales Representative for product questions, including lifecycle and availability.

SMALL BUSINESS 2008 STD MISSING FROM T300 By Willy,  Aug 4, 2009 Tue Aug 04 13:27:33 GMT 2009

Why isn't Small Business Server 2008 Std. offered with the T300 Server?
The clients are listed but the OS is missing.
Conversely, SBS2008 Std. is offered for the T100 but the clients are missing.
This has been like this since SBS2003 was pulled and SBS2008 put in its place.

There are so many inconsistancies in offerings on the premier pages that I have to get my representative involved most of the time, be it a server, PC or notebook. Thus, in my opinion, the premier site becomes more of a hindrance than a help. It is quite frustrating when I have a lot of proposals to work on and have to contact my rep for every little change.

The regular Dell pages don't seem to have this problem. In my opinion they are much more well maintained and updated, and configurations and software offerings are very consistent across platforms.

ADMIN NOTE:  Thank you for your feedback.  In the future, for product availability issues, including the availability of OS or any specific option, please contact your Dell Sales Representative.  Systems Catalog configurations are controlled by a centralized maintenance team within the sales group, and welcome input from Sales in terms of needed options.

Thank you for using PremierStorm.

Make the n-series machines available through premier By james4765,  Jun 17, 2009 Wed Jun 17 18:50:03 GMT 2009

We sell a lot of Linux machines - both desktops and servers.  Although it is relatively simple to order a server with no OS or RHEL, ordering an Optiplex, Precision, or Vostro with pre-installed Linux is impossible to do through the Premier interface.  We have actually ordered through small business to get the n-series machines.

Although I know you may not want to offer every machine with no OS to the general public, those of us who do volume purchases would like to be able to buy them.  We have customers with retail copies of Windows and VLKs as well, and it's pointless to make them re-purchase a valid copy of Windows just because you can't order a machine with no OS license.

ADMIN NOTE:  We appreciate any and all feedback, and the opportunity to address issues that arise with your experience on Premier and other Dell websites.  However, we would ask that submissions for this particular forum be focused on ideas for feature and functionality requests within Premier.

Regarding product offerings, most all products offered in the Small Business site are available within Premier Systems Catalogs, including OptiPlex, Vostro and Precision Workstations offered with FreeDOS, Novell SUSE Linux Embedded, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Your Dell Account team owns the customization of your Premier page, may simply need to remove a filter to allow these products to display, or add your specified choices as Standard Configurations.

Thank you using PremierStorm.

Give Us The Product Info And Standardize On It. By Wittigpc,  Jun 9, 2009 Tue Jun 09 21:29:11 GMT 2009

Stop playing hide the option.  This doesn't make anyone money.

If you offer it, offer it.

Don’t only offer the 22” UltraSharp on some systems.  Poking around to try and find which systems I can get it with and which ones I can't only waists time.  They are coming in separate boxes so there is no advantage in this.

The same thing with AntiVirus Programs.  What’s up with that?  This one I can get 36 Mo McAfee, but that one is 36 Mo Norton.  That’s not helpful.  If you offer it, offer it.

One of my orders was recently lost because of an issue with the 22”Monitor and a sound bar.  The 22” Ultrasharp was not offered with the Optiplex system for some unknown reason, so I had to add it to the cart separately.  This kicked out the order because of the sound bar that was selected with the system was giving an error that it was not compatible or something.  I don’t need orders lost – I need them shipped.  I would think that Dell would want to ship orders as well.

I love What Julia said on June 5th about “The hoops I have to jump through to get order status.”   I would have found the missing order much sooner if I could have easily tracked orders.  On the My Premier page right at the top there is an E Quote list.  How about an “Order Status List” so I can see what is on the way and what is No Way.

ADMIN NOTE:  As all Dell manufacturing facilities are ISO certifed, there are some restrictions as to what options can be offered as "factory installed" with specific systems.  As your main point of contact and information about Dell, your Dell Sales Representative has access to personnel and information to give you more detail on why an option such as a specific monitor may be offered as "Factory Installed" with some products, but not with others.

Order Status, as with other post-sales support functions, are a part of Support.Dell.com, and separate from Premier.  We have added features to make it easier for Premier customers to obtain their information, but because the Order Status site is unsecure, it does require some information to validate a search.  If you do check order status regularly, ask your Dell Sales Representative for you Dell Customer Number to see more results than PO Number, Order Number, or Dell Purchase ID.

Thank you for using PremierStorm.

Make it compatible with Ubuntu + Firefox By dburanen,  Jun 9, 2009 Wed Jun 10 04:20:07 GMT 2009

In firefox and ubuntu, I don't see a systems tab to pick any laptops or desktops.  Chromium on Ubuntu works and Firefox in Windows via VirtualBox works so why can't Ubuntu + Firefox?

Proper Grammar: You have business to do. By comments4dell,  Aug 4, 2009 Tue Aug 04 17:47:33 GMT 2009

At http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/global/premier/login/signin?c=us&l=en&s=gen , it is written:
"You've Got Business to Do."

This should be:
"You have business to do."  "Got" should not be preceded by "have."  If "have" is to be used, then the expression should be "have gotten," which of course wouldn't make sense here.

"Have got" just isn't right, even though people say it.  "Have" is strong enough; nothing more is needed.

Hrmph.

ADMIN NOTE:  Advertising and marketing personnel do occaisionally stray from proper grammer, for the purpose of connecting with certain target audiences.  Nonetheless, we appreciate your feedback.  Should you have any constructive feature and functionality requests regarding Premier, we would welcome those suggestions within the PremierStorm forum.
