Have one set of prices, one store, and KEEP IT SIMPLE By ztirffritz,  Nov 16, 2009 Mon Nov 16 20:04:18 GMT 2009

Why does Dell have at least 3 different prices for every item depending on how you enter the Dell Website?  It is frustrating having to login to the website a bunch of different ways to find the best price.  Make it simple - 1 price, take it or leave it.  Instead, you have a Small Business price, Large Business Price, Home User Price, Govt Price, etc.

Disruptive Site Maintenance By Clifford9999,  Oct 15, 2009 Thu Oct 15 20:35:10 GMT 2009

Please stop performing major site maintenance in the middle of the business day.  And if you must do this, send an email announcing this in advance and post a meaningful message about what's going on and when the system is expected to be available.  Every time there's a major catalog change, my standard configs and/or full catalog completely disappear from the website with no explanation or expected uptime.    It's been that way all day today.

Uptime/Speed and Content By richard55,  May 26, 2009 Tue May 26 22:44:27 GMT 2009

Biggest suggestion for improvement of Premier - SPEED.  You guys build servers.  There should be NO issues when trying to access Premier during normal business hours.

Second is Content.  For some products there is lots of content, for others, such as the Imaging section, there is very little or it's spread out all over creation.

The site should be very easy to navigate...REMOVE POP-UPS THAT ARE GENERALLY BLOCKED BY INTERNET EXPLORER!

ADMIN NOTE - Thank you for your comments.  We have noticed a degredation of performance and stability and we have assembled a task to focus solely on improving the customer experience with several releases in the June - August 2009 timeframe.  We are also making changes to our content management system over a slightly longer period but the expectation is that we will be able to provide richer content aligned with our customers expectations.

Thank you again for using Premier and PremierStorm.

Order History By nking,  Jul 23, 2009 Thu Jul 23 13:39:59 GMT 2009

 Order history,
Well sometimes it is like pulling teeth to get my order history. When all i want to do is see my past i just can't seem to get  there. Lets make the program so when you click on order history it doesn't give you the run around for 20 minuites to get there, does not have to be that complicated.

Purchasing Website??? By kimscj,  Nov 4, 2009 Wed Nov 04 18:51:54 GMT 2009

This has always been the worst purchasing website I have ever used.  Slow, difficult to navigate, the list is endless, I don't even know where to start.  I've been using this site for about 2 years now and everytime I log in, it's worse.  Maybe you should hire someone who knows how to create a purchasing site instead of someone who makes it look 'pretty'.  Even getting here to add my comments was difficult.  The entire set up of the 'Idea' forum is wrong to add insult to injury.

NAME OF THE PERSON PLACING THE ORDER By krava,  Nov 3, 2009 Tue Nov 03 18:43:50 GMT 2009

When an order is placed it would be helpful to have the name of the person who placed the order show up in the order details area especially when a non-recognized purchase order number is being used.  I have seen several mysterious orders on my site and it seems to take my sales rep days to get back to me to tell me who placed the order.  I am sure most companies only allow orders from certain individuals, so knowing who actually placed the order would clear up the mystery orders immediately.

Performance - Manageability By jbalingit,  Aug 6, 2009 Thu Aug 06 17:06:21 GMT 2009

I agree with other user that the site is to slow. I would also like to have the ability to update account information - billing address, etc. Site doesn't get updated regularly - my support team contact list is out-dated - current list of reps all moved on nearly a year ago.

ADMIN NOTE: As mentioned in previous admin notes, performance and stability have been the highest priority for development and IT teams over the past two quarters.  We have made strides towards goals of a higher performing and more stable platform for all Premier customers.  As also stated, we will also be making changes to our content management system over a slightly longer period but the expectation is that we will be able to provide richer content aligned with our customers expectations.

Regarding update of content on your individual Premier site, this is the responsibility of your Dell Account Team.  If you do not have the needed contact information on your Account Team page, please let your Dell Sales Representive aware so that it can be updated.

Maximize Effeciency = Make Dell Premier #1 tool for tech specialists By RPS06,  Mar 16, 2009 Mon Mar 16 17:55:11 GMT 2009

We need to make the Dell Premier page as easy to use as possible. Here are current inefficiencies that need improvement:

I use firefox so i am not sure if IE will be better... however the site should be coded to run in firefox like the rest of the world.

1. Login process
Our password and username do not autosave. The login system needs to both remember you forever if you want or to autosave.

2. Login timeout
It drives me nuts that the website times out and logs you out after a short time. I think the premier page logs me out quicker than my bank. We need to have an option to never be logged out.

3. Simplify equote and cart process.
There needs to just be 1, either cart of equote. I think equotes sounds nice but simple is better. Why don’t you guys just call it a eCart. Just have people add to cart... and have the cart autosave. I cant tell tyou the number of times I built a system for a client, got a phone call, went back into premier page and the system signed me out and I lost the cart. Autosave is crucial. Each cart should have a cart # and allow us to rename them. So when we need to send something to someone... we can just call it a cart # and not a equote #. Right now the whole system is so hard to use and drives us nuts. You should be able to save a cart with 1 click. Then you can email cart, or adjust cart, or check out.

4. Format of data
The specs are formatted VERY crudely. When we try to copy and paste those specs to anyone we have to spend 2 minutes cutting out all the irrelevant information such as product codes, blank spaces, and other junk. Then we do the same when plugging it into our invoice system. The way the specs display should be flawless… and you should just be able to copy and paste that into an email or an invoice or anywhere with zero editing required.

5. Simplify address book
We often to ship to same people. The current address book is ok but it is really difficult to use. This needs to be changed so you can just import your address book from outlook/exchange and ship systems off that.

I have a ton of other suggestions. I have seen HP’s systems and they are terrible but they are making big pushes toward efficiency.

I have plenty of other ideas. All I said above was just off the top of my head. Call me directly if you want to chat. 914.620.5319

User Navigation By Irwin Dale,  Jun 30, 2009 Tue Jun 30 13:58:22 GMT 2009

1.   Please remove the DREADFUL black color which surrounds the top and bottom of screens.

2.  Reduce the space taken by the BLACK areas on the screen.  Seems more Sales oriented than User friendly.

3.  Please move the Order Status and E-Quotes icons to the left.  This way we could use smaller screen sizing  without having to scroll to the right side.

4.  Please place the Quote to order Icon next to the Order Status and E-Quote icons.  It seems to disappear after the login is successful,

5.  Allow us to combine a Quote to Order item and and E-Quotes on the same Purchase Order.  Currently we need to order each catagory separately.  (Allow a Continue Shopping method)

Thats all for today.

This Is Ridiculous By Wittigpc,  May 27, 2009 Thu May 28 05:15:46 GMT 2009

Once you have your system and are ready to order, this process should be able to be completed in 120 sec or less.  Today after entering the Shipping Info and clicking Continue to go to the Payment pages and the process took 4 min. for the next page to appear.  The system I ordered just before this one took even longer.  More like 10 Min to go to the next page.  This is at 10:00 PST when traffic has to be much lower then during the day.  This should take 4 Seconds, not 4 Min.  Huston, I think we have a problem here.

ADMIN NOTE - Thank you for your comments.  No doubt, waiting 4 minutes for any page to load is beyond excessive.  Though we have noted a degredation of performance and stability, and are working towards improvement, you should not be waiting minutes for any page to load.  Excessive load times, especailly when not not common to other Premier Users, can be caused by Network Security or Firewall filtering issues.  Regardless, we recommend contacting our Premier Helpdesk (Premier@Dell.com, or 800-274-3355, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm Central Time) to allow them to help troubleshoot the isssue.

MyAccount and My Account Number By VLantz,  Jun 11, 2009 Thu Jun 11 14:38:43 GMT 2009

There needs to be a way that the MyAccount section will remember my account number.  I am in the healthcare arena and it told me that it won't save a healthcare number.

ADMIN NOTE:  We appreciate any and all feedback, and the opportunity to address issues that arise with your experience on Premier and other Dell websites.  However, we would ask that submissions for this particular forum be focused on ideas for feature and functionality requests within Premier.

My Account is a resource for your personal use, and cannot save customer numbers that belong to your organization.  On the other hand, Premier is a resource for organizational use, rather than for individuals.  Though we continue to improve personal customization within Premier, those improvements are geared towards ease of use for organizational procurement, rather than individual use.

Dashboard based Premier website By thedirkman,  Jun 4, 2009 Thu Jun 04 19:31:14 GMT 2009

Gathering ideas to improve the Premier website is a great idea but implementing those ideas will prove to be difficult and will not please everyone. One way to achieve a higher satisfaction level would be to use a dashboard approach to revamping the Premier site. If you use this method you can come closer to designing the perfect interface because every user will be able to build their own to suit their needs. You could start with a blank dashboard and have all the dash-parts in a drag and drop list. A user could then find the features needed to make a website that suits their every need.
You could have individual dash-parts for all your product lines so users could have the products they purchase most often at their fingertips. For example, we standardized on Dell Precision 3400 workstations and buy several each year. Therefore I would have a Precision 3400 workstation dash-part that would allow me to go the the configurator with one click instead of navigating through multiple screens to get to where I wanted to go. The same could go for all products the Dell sells like peripherals and software. This would allow individuals to create a Premier page that would truly be their own.

You could also incorporate dash-parts that would aid in asset management.  I currently use the Premier site to maintain an independent database of my purchases that have a service tags and I wish that it could keep track of every purchase I make from Dell, like software licenses from Symantec Endpoint Protection, to battery backups.

I may be asking for the world here but since we make most of our IT purchases from Dell it would be nice to have a single interface that I could make purchases, maintain purchase records for all my transactions and be able to generate reports for budget request and asset reports for the tax man.

This system could also be utilized to send individualized alerts to customers like warranty expiration alerts, subscription renewals, specials, etc. This would result in lower operational cost for Dell by cutting down on paperwork, postage, energy use and dare I say it, be a GREEN initiative.

ADMIN NOTE - this is a current offering.  Please check with your account team to have My Premier enabled on your account if it is not already done so.  This features allows you to customize your page with those areas of the site that you use on a regular basis in a dashboard format.  The technology is such that we hope to offer extending the dashboard to the client desktop in the future.
